![]() ![]() It has separate controls for reducing highlights and lifting shadows, but I don't know that I'd call it highlight reconstruction. It does no highlight reconstruction - not even a poor attempt. I would rate it unusable - admittedly harsh but it has some very serious flaws. I agree that it's primitive, but wouldn't rate it unusable. That "Develop" module is simply not ready for prime time. Like PS which ships with ACR Affinity Photo incorporates a "Develop" module to handle converting raw files which it then passes to the main raster editor. However I would not let it anywhere near a Fuji RAF file. The free raw converter Raw Therapee runs circles around Affinity's "Develop" module and does extremely well with Fuji RAF files.Īffinity Photo is a PS clone and as a raster image editor it is excellent especially given the cost. The work around is to use Affinity as a replacement for PS but do the raw conversion work with a different app. The Fuji specific question of the X-Trans demosaicing - I'd rate Affinity Photo as mediocre to poor. The result is that if you want to re-edit that raw file you'll be forced to start from scratch. Most of all it is workflow destructive in that any work you do in the "Develop" module is not retain and saved. It has no HSL tool to use before the raw file is converted. ![]() Does anyone use it, and is it any good for Fuji files?Īffinity Photo is a PS clone and as a raster image editor it is excellent especially given the cost. ![]() However, thought I’d ask, as I have been looking at the new Affinity apps as alternatives to a couple of apps I am fed up paying subscriptions for. I have never seen any mention of this app for post-processing of Fuji RAW files, so I assume it’s not rated by Fuji users. Basically it's a pretty good Photoshop replacement and when I need it, I export from CaptureOne into 16-TIFF and then do additional edits in Affinity Photo.Īs a RAW converter, I only use it to mess with RAW files of non-Fuji cameras when I'm bored, to see their dynamic range / noise, because my Capture One copy only works with Fujifilm. It has nice HDR/Focus merge tools and all the usual drawing primitives of PhotoShop. CaptureOne is miles ahead.Īffinity Photo is good for creative stuff, when you want to merge multiple images, or heavily modify an image (like adding fake blur or various edge effects to it).
